I'm not sure if your question is in reference to the earlier-posted references to Nikki G and Lisa N or not. But, since I am guessing they are, I promise I will attempt to write a reasonable answer.

One the one hand, soccer is a team game and there is no doubt Wayne is a very good TEAM. Definitely, the team is more important than any one player, and if Wayne beat Centerville today, it'll be because the TEAM has succeeded.

That said, there is no denying that Nikki G and Lisa N were / are the 'star' players on the team. That's just the way it is. In my opinion, there is definite validity to your point (and it is well-taken); however, facts are facts. Omitting pertinent information when reporting, and doing so in favor of political correctness, can never be good journalism.
